While in years past SEO firms would use Meta tag optimization, as a means to encourage people to click on a link to your site the truth is it is in today’s standards considered Spam. Many marketers understood Meta tag optimization, and its relevance to search engine result pages. The basic premise of this form of optimization entailed HTML tags that gave information on a web site’s content. Yet it does not offer any difference in the way a page is viewed in a browser. With the use of this tool within a SERP you will see a few results. There is the human element that was incorporated, where the indexing of the directory. Then you have the spider that operates on the search engine itself, and finally you will have the listings that are controlled and purchased by the engine it is running on. It basically all boiled down to robot exclusion attribution, and the keywords themselves.

While it was a very strong method of obtaining top search engine results, Meta tag optimization, does not really work as effectively today as it once did. To determine relevancy a very low percentage are still using this search engine tool. Primarily search engines use Meta tag optimization, to obtain a few goals. First they are or were used to gain a high ranking in the search engine. Second they enticed people to hit links to your website, this can be called in fashion “elicit a call to action”. With SEO firms building quality sites on a regular basis, what is known as form element is implemented. The firm ensures that they will not only create, they will also maintain the search related pages. When the search engine comes into the fold at that point, it is easy to understand the importance of HTML tags and Meta tags in Meta tag optimization.

It is completely understandable that owners of sites want and aesthetically appealing and accurate search result for their pages. Knowing just how many characters that are being left out of the tag is key, as they want as much of the information in tact and not cut off somewhere in the middle. The notion of click able comes to mind, as owners are now re-writing and re-doing descriptions on a regular basis in order to have their site noticed. With Meta tag optimization however, you still can indeed have the right information pertaining to your site and have people find exactly what they were looking for.
